Trends I Love: NYFW 2014

It’s that time of year again where fashion thrives in the “Big Apple”. Fashion designers everywhere come to N.Y.C. to display their latest and greatest designs for the whole world to see. Unfortunately, I’ve not been able to experience the excitement first-hand, but instead I’ve been able to watch from behind my computer screen. Here are some of my favorite street trends so far for New York Fashion Week 2014. (Photo Credit: Diego Zuko)

Holographic Vinyl: This material is sure to catch the eye no matter what the piece: shoes, coat, or even clutch. Its futuristic appearance can update almost any outfit. Modeling a holographic coat above is the lovely Alexa Chung.

Black and Navy: Although once considered a fashion “no no”, black and navy are becoming a haute couture pairing. It’s an easy way to add style to a simple all-black outfit. This is something I will definitely be incorporating into my wardrobe.

Colorful Coats: A reoccurring trend this season. If you’re like me and most of your clothes are either black, white, or beige, investing in a bright colored coat would be a wise decision. Bright colors are a fun way to draw attention to your clothes while not going too far out of your comfort zone.

Sweaters and Long Skirts: I have a feeling that this will become a HUGE trend fall/winter 2014. It’s been featured multiple times on the runway the past few months. I’m excited to see just how far this trend will go.

2014 is going to be an amazing year in fashion judging by this year’s NYFW. Let me know in the comments below some of the trends you love. Which designers are you most excited to see? Which shows have you liked so far?
